You could make the case that Crosby isn’t even the best on the Penguins…Evgeni Malkin?? if we’re going by +/- hes at 20 this year and Crosby’s at 7….also leads the team in Goals and Assists.. granted he’s played 5 more games but still

Ovechkin for sure. He has brought life to the capitals and so much to the franchise. It’s hard to remember the last time Washington had something to be that excited about. Crosby is too injury prone now and was named team captain prematurely in my mind, especially with so many veterans on the team. And please keep in mind, as far as plus minus’ go, it’s not like Crosby doesn’t have huge support. If anything I’d compare Ovechkin to the likes of Malkin (and he choked up when it mattered last year).

I think Ovechkin is the best player in the NHL hands down. If the NHL disbanded today and had to be redrafted tomorrow, who do you think the first pick would be? Crosby is a great player, but he’s more of a complementary player. Ovechkin can load a team on his back and carry them like no one else. Crosbys strength is his abilty to make everyone around him a better player where Ovechkin is a going to be a leader and take charge. Ovechkin also has 3 inches and 20 lbs on crosby and can still skate with him. I think they both have their positives and negatives but when it comes down to it they make up one of the best exciting rivalries in the NHL which is only doing good things for the sport.
