Eric Mangina (Mangini) is the Cleveland Browns most difficult opponent week in and week out

on 10 5, 2009

With the Lions snapping their losing streak last weekend, are they still the laughing stock of the NFL?  I vote no.  Some may say the Raiders, Rams or Chiefs are, but I think the obvious answer is the Cleveland Browns.  Sure, the Raiders will always be a joke with Al Davis in control, but the entire Browns organization is a complete disaster.

How in the hell is Eric Mangini a head coach in the NFL?  And why on Earth did the Browns organization hire him so quickly after his firing from the NY Jets?  It’s not like he was some HOF coach who they needed to snatch up quickly.  He was an ex ball-boy with a losing record as head coach.  The only reason he had the opportunity to coach in the NFL is because he is a branch from the Bill Belichick tree.  Actually, more like a leaf.

I don’t even know where to begin with Mangina and his coaching tactics.  I’m still trying to figure out how the guy holds a position in the NFL.  How did he ever get promoted from ball boy?  He should be a 38 year old ball boy or flipping burgers at McD’s (no offense to the McDonalds workers).

This clown comes to Cleveland and tries to crack the whip, but instead of implementing discipline within the organization, he has lost respect.   Fining a player $1701.00 for not paying for a $3.00 bottle of water isn’t going to earn you respect, Eric.  How about a 10 hour bus ride for your rookies?  That sounds like fun.  This isn’t Pop Warner.  It’s clear there is no discipline, as there was an incident in the locker room last week in which rookie Coye Francies threw a bucket of ice and swung a punch at a teammate after being the victim of a rookie prank.

Mangini and his mystery quarterback competition was a disaster as well.  When all was said and done, he said he would give full support to the QB whom he chose as his starter, which ultimately ended up being Brady Quinn.  Well what do you know, Quinn was yanked at halftime last week after what some would say was a poor first half, although I blame all of Cleveland’s/Quinn’s offensive struggles on extremely poor coaching.

This article is mainly directed towards Eric Mangini, so I’m not even going to touch base on other positions within the organization such as Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll, who ran a QB sneak on 1st and 10 at midfield last week.  In all honesty, probably one of the worst plays I have ever witnessed.

Eric Mangina was awful in New York, and I’m not sure what Browns owner Randy Lerner was thinking when he hired him almost immediately after he got the boot from the Jets organization.  Oh yeah, Randy Lerner is an idiot too, but I’m not going to get started on him…he deserves his own article.
