Five Appetizing NFL Futures Bets
Jefferson on 07 30, 2010
If you’re anything like me you already cannot wait for the NFL season to start, and with that season comes the best 21 weeks of betting. So to get an early start, here are five futures bets that look good right now.
Dez Bryant – Offensive Rookie of the Year (+450) – Even though he won’t carry Roy Williams’s pads, I don’t think that’s going to hurt his productivity on the field. This guy has what it takes to be a solid receiver in the league. So why Bryant over Ryan Mathews? I think Bryant has a chance to contribute more to a top team. He fits into their system well, and with other threats at WR he will get a lot of favorable match-ups. Betting on Mathews scares me because I don’t know what kind of a workload he will get with Sproles ahead of him.
Eric Berry – Defensive Rookie of the Year (+450) – Eric Berry was a beast of a safety at Tennessee and he played under Monte Kiffin, a defensive mastermind and former NFL defensive coordinator. With this kind of background one would think Berry could hop right in and make a difference. Why not Ndamukong Suh? Something tells me he wont be able to over power people right away and it might take him awhile to get going in the league, but I could be way off on that.
Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFC North (+350) – For whatever reason there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of respect paid to the Bengals for the season they had last year. They’re currently flirting with the idea of bringing in T.O. and if that happens they’ll be a major offensive threat. Baltimore doesn’t have a real quarterback just yet, and Ray Rice will have a sophomore slump. Also, something tells me that Pittsburgh is going to self-destruct.
Minnesota Vikings over 9.5 wins (-130) – Trust me, as much as it hurts you to read this, it hurt me to write this, but the fact of the matter is that Favre is probably coming back and this is a really, really good team. For such a good team, it seems like 10 wins is almost the minimum for them. It also might be advise to hop on this early, as the line might go up to 10 when Favre announces his return.
Andre Johnson for Most Receiving Yards (+600) – The man is an absolute beast. The problem is he isn’t as flashy as Fitzgerald or Marshall and he isn’t constantly in the spotlight like Wayne. He has gone for over 1,500 yards the last two seasons and there’s no reason to think he won’t be doing it again.
So there you go, five future NFL bets to get you football blood flowing.
