Hey Detroit… “Tell me how my ass tastes”
Dusty on 04 22, 2009
I had to steal a line from Shaq’s infamous rap toward Kobe Bryant as my title. Why wouldn’t I? This series is a joke, but it should give those that follow basketball a few things to talk about. The first being that the NBA needs to completely restructure their playoff seeding and they should do it for one reason only, the fans. There is no reason why the Pistons should even be in the playoffs with a 39-43 record, while a team like Phoenix who played in a much tougher conference and finished the regular season at 46-36 are watching from home. Why should teams like the Utah Jazz who finished 14 games above .500 have to play the Lakers in the first round? The NBA owes it to the fans to put the best teams in the playoffs year in and year out with no exceptions. David Stern would be better off just taking each years NCAA National Championship team and sending them in as the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. At least UNC would act like their on national television and give a half-ass effort for those that tuned in.
Right now your getting a first hand look at the demise of the Detroit Pistons. This team will be completely different next year and it will start with Rasheed Wallace. They have a few good pieces to build around for the future in Rodney Stuckey, Arron Affalo, Tayshaun Prince, and Hamilton if he elects to stick around. My guess is that he’ll be looking for the first available way out. It should be an interesting Summer to say the least in Detroit, but if I was betting man I’d have to say the smart money is on a complete shake up in the D.
Side Note – Michael Curry; I understand that your team clearly doesn’t want to be playing anymore, but try not to look completely confused the whole game when all your doing is yelling out “THAT‘S A FOUL” for 48 minutes. Because until that stops Mike, it’s going to be nothing more than BOHICA for you… and for those that don’t tune into The Jim Rome Show, that stands for ‘Bend Over Here It Comes Again.’
