Lane Kiffin is the Kelvin Sampson of college football, yes another recruiting violation coming his way

Bob on 06 9, 2009

Tennessee Volunteers football coach Lane Kiffin is making headlines yet again, and similar to the other publicity he has received, it’s negatively associated. The ignorant coach who took over head coaching duties for the Vols football program has committed another NCAA violation (they’re looking into it at this point, but he’s definitely guilty). This guy is on a roll!

Once Tennessee is through with ‘looking into it’ and finds their mistake of a coach culpable of another recruiting violation, the tally of violations Kiffin has committed since being introduced as the head coach Dec. 1st will be at five (5). Stay hot Lane!

ESPN reported this:

A segment of ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,” which aired Sunday, showed Kiffin in his office with two people identified by the network as recruits.”

According to NCAA recruiting rule 13.10.1, “A member institution shall not permit a media entity to be present during any recruiting contact made by an institution’s coaching staff member.”

Sounds to me like there is nothing to look into, it says it all right there; he committed another recruiting violation. Is Lane Kiffin ignorant or just flat out stupid? How many recruiting violations can a program make until they are sanctioned? This is getting ridiculous!

Although their respective programs are rivals in the SEC, I have a feeling Kiffin and Kentucky’s basketball coach John Calipari would get along great. These two guys belong at the same University! Team the two up and you’ve got the dirtiest, sleaziest program in the nation.

Although he has yet to coach a game, is it too premature to can this asshole? I think it should be up for consideration. It is apparent Lane Kiffin is not the answer for the Vols’ football program, unless Tennessee’s intentions were to hire some slimy scrub who commits violations on a regular basis. Kiffin has the program headed the wrong direction in a hurry. If the Volunteers have any hope of putting their football program back on the map, they should dump Lane in a heartbeat and try to find a respectable coach/human.

Haha it's all good UAGRAD....anyways, if I were a Bama fan, I would feel very comfortable with Saban at head coach as well. He really is a great coach.

Now that Charlie Weis is done, I think Lane Kiffin has moved up to the top spot of my "coaches I want to see fail" list.
  • My apologies for the grammatical errors. Just excuse me and blame in on my Southern English. I do have to point out that I made a terrible mistake on saying "we're"..."where" was a terrible mistake.
  • I will agree, to some extent, that UT is definitely heading in a different direction under Kiffen....I mean, the Phil Fulmer reign at UT was heading for another collision coarse for '09 if he stayed. With that said, I do have mixed emotions about Kiffen. Yes, he is an idiot, and every UT fan that I know will tell you that Kiffen run's his mouth waay too much for their liking. However, you can't argue with Results, and the one thing Kiffen has done has brought in talent. I'm sure its the promise of playing time, turning around a pretty decent program, and maybe he gets recruits layed in the process....I don't know, but UT will have a legitimate shot at a Top 10 recruiting class. Now, with that said, I don't think that this Million Dollar coaching staff (maybe except for the Monte) will be able to Coach up these players like Urban and Saban can. I like Mark Riecht, but he has had all kinds of talent at Georgia, but they just can't seem to coach up that talent, and that makes me feel comfortable in being a Bama fan and having Lane Kiffen as a coach at UT. I'm of the opinion that UT didn't make a terrible decision with getting Kiffen, he will be able to take UT to a decent bowl game, but I don't think his teams will challenge Florida in the EAST and I believe that Bama will go to UT next year and bring home another WIN. How many of those losses will keep Kiffen with a Job at UT is dependent upon the fans and alumi. But for me, I'll say..."ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!" and I know that with Saban, where in a good place.
  • Dude's odd.
  • YouKnowWho
Kiffin just comes off as extremely unintelligent to me everytime I see him...guy bothers me
  • I think the best part of all this discussion is the fact that in a year from now we'll be hearing it from Vol's fans about how they knew ALL along Lane Kiffin was a pile.

@Bob(if thats your real name) Lets just get real hear for a second. your saying-
"Almost every school commits violations, and I feel there should be sanctions for any program that commits a certain amount of violations."

How many would that be? Your bashing him for being on par... He has an over dramatized image. He made noise because he had to. Hence why it stopped after recruiting day. And that pumping gas comment didn't happen. Both Kiffin and the recruit said so. He isn't ignorant, overconfident maybe. as far as the whole Al Davis comment. Look where it came from.... AL DAVIS. He is a control freak, and even though Kiffin had to deal with the worst owner in the league he actually was improving the raiders statistically. And since he hasn't coached I'll go by the words of those that worked with him. Like Pete Carroll who had nothing but good things to say about him, or their actions like Ed Orgeron who turned down a $900,000 deal to play at LSU.

But wait there is more!!! if you call now with Lane Kiffin youll get Legend hall of fame coach Monte Kiffin, Choach O, Jim Chaney, and we'll even through in Alabama's best recruiter Lance Thopmson. for the small price of getting under the skin of the rivals that you don't even care about....
  • Let's be real, Lane Kiffin hasn't coached a SINGLE GAME and he has 6 violations. That's pretty ridiculous, not to mention we still have several months for the season even starts.
  • Bob
Saban, Paterno and Richt are respectable coaches. Almost every school commits violations, and I feel there should be sanctions for any program that commits a certain amount of violations. Kiffin started making noise right when he stepped in at Tennessee. The guy is just plain ignorant. And pretty classy...telling that recruit he'd be pumping gas if he didn't come play for the Vols. Kiffin is NOT the answer, I'll give him a year tops.
  • @VolTrumpet, do you truly think that Lane Kiffin is the answer for your team? I mean looking back at this in future, do you TRULY believe that this is a good fit? I can understand sticking up for your squad, but come on.
  • VolTrumpet
Well, Georgia has six secondary violations this year already....

    Clemson seven...

    Alabama three...

Hell, Joe Paterno has 25 in the past 5 years....

    And you ask say that Tennessee should be sactioned for five...question;

Are you just slow...or do you really not know what you are talking about?
  • I think every human should have a shot at the XFL.
  • Bob
Quoted from the Raiders organization "Lane Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans, and he lied to the media. He will try to destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders, and will eventually clash with (Pat) Summitt and (Bruce) Pearl. Other than that, the Raiders can say nothing further."

This guy is a head case with bad intentions. He doesn't even belong in the XFL. Kiffin should be flipping burgers.
  • Do you think Lane Kiffin was given a fair chance when he was in Oakland? I don't think he was, but all this crap with recruiting violations is showing he doesn't belong in college football either.. maybe XFL?
