Larry Johnson is on his way out of Kansas City, the Chiefs will certainly miss his 2.7 yards per carry
Matt on 10 28, 2009

There was a point when I thought Larry Johnson was the best running back in the NFL. He was absolutely tearing up defenses, and the clear heir apparent to Priest Holmes. In the 2005-2006 season, Johnson rushed for 1,750 yards and 20 touchdowns. The following year he totaled 1,789 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.
Then, the collapse: 559 yards with 3 touchdowns and 874 yards with 5 touchdowns were his next 2 seasons. Huh?
Now, Johnson is just a selfish, washed up jerk. And out of nowhere, another athlete being a complete idiot via Twitter! Who saw this coming? Oh…wait… pro athletes have been making fools of themselves on Twitter for months and months now.
Larry Johnson used a gay slur for the second time on Monday, and on Sunday he made fun of rookie head coach Todd Haley on Twitter in several posts.
One tweet was: “My father got more creditentials than most of these pro coaches.” That was followed by: “My father played for the coach from “rememeber the titans”. Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn.”
A few typos, Larry! He must’ve put a lot of thought into this one:
“Make me regret it. Lmao. U don’t stop my checks. Lmao. So ‘tweet’ away.”
Don’t athletes understand that these tweets will get out to the mainstream media? Don’t they understand they live under a microscope? Don’t they understand that Robert Flores and Chris McKendry will be reading what they tweet verbatim on morning SportsCenter? Well, I guess no one said athletes are smart…
Teams have put in policies to punish players for inappropriate tweets, but this clearly isn’t stopping them. I’m not sure what the solution to this is. Maybe teams need to ban players from using social networking all together, but that would probably create more backlash.
I basically hate Larry Johnson…plus, he killed my fantasy team last year.
Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen. This twitter phenomenon is heating up.
