Miami Thrice

on 07 13, 2010

I saw this joke somewhere, and I don’t remember where, but I will pass it along:  “LeBron said to the Cavs:  ”If you liked it then you should’ve put a ring on it.”  It’s true.

LeBron James a freakin member of the Miami Heat.  I cannot believe it.  This is going to take a while to sink in.

Telling the city of Cleveland in a one hour special called “The Decision” on ESPN that he was leaving was definitely lame, but it wasn’t all LeBron’s idea.  I’m sure his camp and advisors had a lot to do with it.  His dumb advisors…

Sure, he could’ve cancelled it, but know that this show wasn’t ALL LeBron’s idea.  Cut him some slack.

My thing is that I’ve always wanted LeBron to have better teammates, so I’m glad that he now has them.  I don’t care if he plays on Mars, I would just want those alien teammates to be good.   I want him to win titles, and I want to see him play with legitimate guys.

The Heat just signed Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem, and are realistically only a few more signings away from being good to go.  They’ll need a center, and one more reliable bench guy.  After that, this team should absolutely win the title.  If they don’t, it will be a huge disappointment.

The Heat now have 2 of the 4 best players in the league, and the last time that happened was when Shaq and Kobe were tearing up the league.

This new trio has a chance to join the likes of Bird-McHale-Parish, Magic-Kareem-Worthy, Jordan-Pippen-Rodman, and Chamberlain-West-Baylor as one of the best trios ever.  But they’ll have to win a few titles.

A Heat-Lakers 2011 NBA Finals would be epic.  So much star power.  It’s the kind of thing David Stern dreams about.  Bosh and Gasol are almost a wash, Wade and Kobe are almost a wash, and then the Heat have LeBron.  Who knows if Yao, er, Andrew Bynum will be healthy, and Odom and Artest are getting older these days.

Bottom line:  The Heat WILL win multiple championships with this threesome.   Miami Thrice.  Long live the King.

Another random quick prediction:  Kevin Durant will win the 2011 NBA MVP and OKC will win at least 55 games.

Also, screw you Lakers.
