Didnt even read most of the article but you forget to mention that they went to the finals in 94 without jordan, and the 03-04 lakers being stacked is quite the strech. “Mailman was obviously done, same with the glove, and shaq was completely out of shape. you are an idiot, man. Red had Bill Russell (which by the way won more 2 with basically the same team). The Larry Bird team had 3 or 4 all of famers. Pat Riley had the Showtime Boys, Dwayne Wade, Payton, Shaq and Pat Ewing (which by the way, won shit). What is your point? What is a good coach to you? D’Antoni and his team of 7 seconds or less underachievers that never got to the finals? Gimme a break. It’s like he has to say “i’m Sorry” to you for coaching the God-like MJ, which by the way, previously had been known as a massive ball-hog and almost-only “scoring machine selfish prick”, and after Phil, he became MJ, God of basketball.

People forget that the lakers struggled immensely without PJ. When he came, things changed, he game them the confidence and swagger of a champion. Without him I doubt that team wins 1 title. He is essentially a catalysts.

I would like to see Phil’s all-time coached list versus the all-time squad from the years that he was actively coaching. I think Phil’s squad would win, which says a lot about the talent he’s been blessed with.

On the other hand you got coaches like Mike Brown who have one of the most gifted basketball players ever and he can’t get his shit together.

Any team who has won has had great players period. Phil is a defensive master and understands the game more so than most. He gets it and so do his players. Phil has had a TON of talent around him for most of his career. But let’s give him some credit for implementing the triangle offense with the correct personal and adapting to numerous situations.
