Shawne Merriman attempts to choke the tequila out of Tila Tequila

Shawne Merriman was taken into custody under citizen’s arrest from his girlfriend Tila Tequila. She claims he assaulted her. He says he was trying to stop her from driving drunk. Unbelievable. Merriman can’t stay out of the news these days. First, he’s suspended for a positive steroids test, and everyone blindly looks past it, basically because nobody really cares if NFL players are on steroids. Then he puts off knee surgery too long, and foolishly thinks he can play on it, before coming to his senses and sitting out for the season. Now this story pops up. I got a great chuckle from this. He won rookie of the year, made 3 pro bowls, and now his head got too big (literally). Is Merriman taking it to the next level? Are we seeing a guy who’s not a wide receiver becoming a diva? I’m starting to hate this guy. He’s almost as bad as Terrell Owens, Brandon Marshall, and Chad Johnson (that’s right, I refuse to call him OchoCinco. I won’t do it).

Let’s look at this positively; maybe we’ll have some variety in our NFL pricks! Merriman may just start a trend among linebackers! I’d love to see Brian Urlacher or Patrick Willis getting in trouble. It had to have been the ‘roid rage that put him over the edge, right? Shawne, you really should do some tweeting to clear up this whole matter. How does this sound: “Just choked Tila Tequila. She was drunk. I had to shut her up somehow. No problem.” Maybe this would work: “Citizen’s Arrest? Who does that? I’m breaking up with Tila!” Seriously, I’m so damn sick of talking about athletes’ off the field issues. I love sports, not court rooms. Shawne, what’d you expect, dating a girl who once had her own TV show trying to figure out if she’s bisexual or not?
