i enjoyed reading this article. it was insightful, humorous, and informative. we should honor these fallen heroes, who have made it to "the big show". i mean we do have a tv show with the name, "biggest losers," why not get a little fun out of their situation, as the big lewboski once said, "F*#@ it dude, let's go bowling." cause these ass clowns are going to make and see more money than i ever will in my lifetime.

Adam knows his stuff; especially the facts about this franchise and its inability to invest in talent. It's clear---and, they would benefit from reading this themselves.

@Dolemite - Well, they didn't have a very good team when they where there, so I don't see what keeping them a few more years would have done. Something had to be done to change the atmosphere of losing. I agree they probably could have held on to one or two key pieces of the puzzle, but at what cost? Since Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez couldn't get over their man crushes on eachother, They would have had to keep both of them, which pretty much guarantees that the rest of them are gone. So you have a solid infield to back up crappy pitching and no power at the plate. There's really no good answer for the Pirates. We'll just have to wait and see if the prospects pan out. If they do, this looks like a great move. If not, it's just more of the same

@BooBookitty what if the Pirates had kept all of those players? You're telling me that they wouldn't have a very good team? What are these prospects doing, at some point you have to start actually utilizing your talent. Isn't a 17 year skid enough time to amass a glorious collection of 'prospects'.

It's a stupid organization being run by even more stupid brass.

It would be great if the Pirates starting winning and the Penguins and Steelers would have 20+ straight losing seasons...

As it has been said over, and over, and OVER again, the Pirates weren't winning when they did have Bay, McClouth, Sanchez, Wilson, etc., so why all the hoopla over trading them away when they are at their highest value to get some prospects that might actually help them start winning? They didn't dismantle the '27 Yankees for God's sake. And Ronnie Paulino? Are you kidding me?
