UNC Tar Heels Suck

The nation often gets wrapped up in hating the Duke Blue Devils. People tend to overlook their 8 mile neighbor the UNC Tar Heel’s. UNC is generally considered the second most hated team in college basketball. So why do we get so hyped to watch the two most hated teams play? Maybe it’s because we want to see Tyler Hansbrough get elbowed in the face by Gerald Henderson, and then an ensuing brawl in which a thrown chair is miraculously able to hit Greg Paulus in the face (yeah, I know Greggy didn’t get hit in the face with a chair, but it would have been ridiculous wouldn’t it?).
The UNC Tar Heel’s fans make me more sick than Boston Red Sox fans. They are quick to point the finger at how hated their rival is, but the fact is they’re hated almost as much. I think the worst part maybe the fact that Jordan went to UNC, so now everyone feels like they have a legitimate claim to their UNC fanhood. I’m sorry, but if you’ve never even been to a UNC game before or let alone been in the same state as your beloved UNC then get off the bandwagon please. There’s nothing worse than bandwagon jumpers, especially bandwagon jumpers who talk shit. If you’re a bandwagon jumper, please, PLEASE sit down in the back and just shut your mouth, you’re along for a ride with no say in where this thing goes.
Every night before I go to sleep, I make a little wish. Please make it 2001 again so that I can watch UNC go 8-20 overall and 4-12 in ACC play. 2001 may have been the best year of all time. I suppose all of this anger should be reverted back to the man who put UNC on the map, Dean Smith. UNC needs a little Frank McGuire back (1953-1961). Frank was famous for getting a recruiting violation. I would argue UNC is in violation every season. You ever get the feeling that UNC recruiting isn’t much different from selecting a ‘lady of the night’ at your local brothel? Think about it… the recruits line up, Roy Williams walks in wearing nothing but a baby blue leopard spotted silk robe, points his finger at the 3 finest ‘players’, and without a word all 4 slide into a dark room in back. That sounds like a violation to me.
UNC Tar Heel’s are an extremely talented group, bound for the NBA. But what I enjoy most about this group, is their inability to secure a National Championship despite being the most talented team in college basketball for the past 2 seasons. For the past 2 seasons, I’ve had to sit in front of people and ESPN alike, and listen to their reasons why UNC will win the National Championship. I thank you Georgetown and Kansas for sealing UNC’s fate the past two seasons. I literally could not have asked for a better way to see UNC’s season end. Maryland, I want to thank you for beating UNC AT UNC when they were ranked NUMBER 1 in the Nation last year.
Do a favor for me everybody. Next time you see a current/former UNC player at a bar or restaurant, order an O’Douls for him (of course, on me – receipt needed).
Oh and by the way… Tyler Hansbrough is on your team, awesome.
